The Undocumented Americans by Karla Cornejo Villavicencio

This is an opportunity to get to know members of Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church (BHPC), Bethesda Jewish Congregation (BJC), and Maqaame Ibrahim Islamic Center (MIIC) better by reading and discussing a book about a timely subject.  This book is written by one of the first undocumented immigrants to graduate from Harvard.  Cornejo Villavicencio traveled across the country to capture the accounts of undocumented Americans who have been stereotyped, abused, and considered expendable.  The stories she tells are not deferential or naively inspirational but show the love, magic, heartbreak, resistance, insanity, and vulgarity that infuse the day-to-day lives of her subjects.  (The book was a National Book Award Finalist.)
